Present Abt Associates Postdoctoral Fellow, University of North Texas
2016 PhD, Biological Sciences, University of North Texas
2005 BA, Biological Sciences, Texas A & M University
Kristin used her degree in Biology to teach high school science for six years before deciding to come back to school and further her education. Currently, Kristin's research focuses on the maternal transfer of mercury in fathead minnows. She is investigating the effects of mercury on C-start response and neural development in embryos. She is also currently examining the effects of combined exposures of mercury and selenium in varying molar ratios, to determine if the addition of selenium alters mercury toxic endpoints.
Kristin originates from the majestic landscape of Montana and moved to Texas during high school. Kristin and her husband have been married for one year with their "small dog" Buddy. She enjoys spinning, yoga, outdoor activities and is the orchid whisperer. Kristin has embraced adventure by going on a 100 mile whitewater kayak trip. She is also an enthusiastic Texas A & M fan that rivals many other SEC fans in the country.
